Samira Saidi

Samira joined the Board in January 2022. Born in Manchester, she completed her training at The Royal Ballet School, graduating into Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in 1979 (now Birmingham Royal Ballet) under the directorship of Sir Peter Wright. Following a twenty year career with the Company, Samira pursued her love of teaching and coaching, as a guest internationally and in the UK for The Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst Ballet School. In addition to teaching, she is regularly invited to sit on judging panels for international ballet competitions and assessments.

In 2012 she accepted the position of Director of Dance at English National Ballet School leading the artistic direction of the School for five years. In 2017, a newly created post of Head of Intensive Courses and International Relations lead her to The Royal Ballet School where, until stepping down in December 2021, she was responsible for the expansion and development of the School’s intensive courses and international programmes and auditions.  Currently Samira is working with The Royal Ballet Company as Guest Repetiteur.

“I am delighted to join the Trustees of such a valuable and important organisation, and I look forward to working with the DPF in its mission to help and support the requirements, when needed, of our dance professionals.”
