Amanda Britton is the CEO, Principal and Artistic Director of The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. She performed with Ballet Rambert (1984-93) and Siobhan Davies Dance Company (1994-2000). As a contemporary dance teacher she has taught at conservatoires in the UK and overseas and completed an MA in Dance Education and Training. Amanda took up the role of Head of Undergraduate Studies at Rambert School in 2005 and was appointed Principal in 2015. Since then Amanda has initiated a period of rapid change at the School, cementing the core philosophies of the training, growing its reputation in the UK and internationally, and opening doors for new innovations and research, including the launch of two postgraduate programmes, numerous outreach initiatives, and (with Rambert Company) launching Rambert Grades, a new contemporary dance syllabus for young people.
“My life has been spent in and around dance and I consider myself very fortunate to have navigated a career from dancer to teacher to leader. I am passionate about supporting dancers through their individual journeys, and look forward to playing a part in delivering the Dance Professionals Fund’s vision of enabling dance professionals to lead a fulfilling life in dance safe from hardship.”
